Last week I tackled homemade hamburger buns. They ended up coming out great! The only problem was that I made a ton of them. I am talking 2 dozen plus. So I had to make a ton of sandwiches. I love sandwiches so this was gonna be fun. Last week I also picked up a grill basket. The combination of grill basket and homemade hamburger buns screamed mushroom swiss burger. I could grill up the mushrooms in the grill basket and make some perfectly cooked burgers on the same grill.
Nothing is more patriotic than having a few beverages on the 4th of July. Oops, yes there is. You could drink red, white and blue shooters (otherwise known as “Liquid America”) and be the most festive person on the block, if not the US. Thanks to the varying specific gravities of alcohol this shot is … Read moreRed, White and Blue Shooter
I love vanilla ice cream. So one of the first things I did when getting my ice cream machine was to make vanilla ice cream. I used extract and it was not the best. So bad, that I never posted about it. However a couple of weeks ago I got my hands on some Madagascar vanilla … Read moreVanilla Bean Ice Cream

I love bratwurst, but sometimes I don’t have a hot dog bun lying around when I want to enjoy it. So I figured out a way to make bratwurst into patties. I know what you are thinking, but you can’t just use a standard bratwurst recipe as it will dry out and fall apart. With a little extra fat, some bread crumbs and a little Bud Light you can make it happen.
I served these over my homemade hamburger buns. Super proud of them. Check out the hamburger bun recipe here.
A couple weeks back I sent Dana to the liquor store to pick up some coconut rum for the pina coladas. When she came back she also had a bottle of firefly sweet tea vodka. This stuff is awesome! You could totally drink it straight up without a mixer. But when mixed with lemonade it becomes the drink of legends. Mainly one legend, Arnold Palmer.
Served in a Collins glass with a sprig on mint, this drink screams summer.
I wanted to recreate the soft billowy store bought hamburger buns at home. I tried a few recipes and the only one that came close was the one from King Arthur Flour. The buns came out perfectly brown and had an amazing texture. The only thing that was disappointing was that the buns were a little hard on the outside. I still haven’t gotten them perfect but they are pretty awesome. So without further ado, here are my buns (Haha). They browned perfectly and look great with the sesame seeds.
