Perfect Corn

Over the 4th of July holiday I was home visiting my family and my Grandma made some unbelievable corn. It was perfectly cooked and super tasty. I asked my Mom and Grandma for their secrets. Perfect Corn

Simple, foolproof corn on the cob recipe. Boil in salted sugar water for perfectly plump, juicy, never-chewy corn every time.
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 2 servings

Ingredients
  

  • 2 ears of corn
  • 6 quarts of water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbs sugar

Method
 

  1. Shuck the corn and remove the silk.
  2. Fill a pot with cold water and add the salt and sugar.
  3. Add the corn to the salted water.
  4. Place the pot on the burner and turn to high heat.
  5. When the water starts to boil, set a timer for 10 minutes.
  6. When the timer goes off, remove the corn from the pot and serve.

Notes

This recipe works for more ears of corn. As you increase the water, increase the salt and sugar proportionally. The corn comes out plump and juicy, never chewy. The easiest way to cook corn ever!

  1. I like it grilled better, but doing it this was is EASIER and much more CONSISTENT with results. Tender and not overdone.

    Chris, I also like it grilled, but when you do a ton of corn you do get better results boiling it. Plus sometimes you run out of charcoal, like I did. Haha.
