The Perfect Martini

Tomorrow is National Martini Day! June 19th, 2015. Yeah, I didn’t know either. So in the best interest of you guys, I wanted to give you guys the perfect martini recipe. There is nothing worse than letting National Martini Day go by without celebrating it.  So since today is Thirsty Thursday, we are posting the recipe today!

The Perfect Martini

The key to a great martini is having everything nice and cold. Keep your shaker, glasses and gin in the freezer. Why you ask, well everything tastes better ice cold. Plus you do not want to water down your martini too much. Thus, having everything cold, helps prevent unnecessary melting.

Fill your shaker with ice. All the way to the top. Ice is your friend. Remember everything tastes better when ice cold.

Pour in a cap full of vermouth. Using a spoon stir the ice and vermouth and let sit for 5 seconds. Then strain out the vermouth.

Next add 2 jiggers of gin. We are talking good gin here folks. Do not make a cocktail out of gin in a plastic bottle. Please don’t email me if you made this with gin in a plastic bottle and it tasted like crap. If you start with crappy gin, you will end up with a crappy martini.

Stir the gin 20 times. Not 19, not 21, 20 times exactly. Why, I like the number and in my experimenting it works out the best. Trust me try it out. Start with 19 times, then try 21 times and then try 20 times with your third martini. Granted everything tastes better after two martinis, but I know what I am talking about.

The Perfect Martini

Strain the martini into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a couple of olives and enjoy.

I know that James Bond likes his shaken and not stirred, but whoever said he knew how to make a perfect martini. The perfect martini is made by stirring the gin 20 times. Trust me!
