One of my favorite breakfast meals is biscuits and sausage gravy. I just love tender biscuits covered in thick and creamy sausage gravy. I prefer a spicy sausage in mine, but with the kids eating my food these days, I have to opt for mild. Sad but they will grow up soon. Then I can get back to the spicy stuff. The great thing about this recipe, is that it works with any type of sausage that you enjoy!
Dana and I went to Hash House A Go Go a last year when we went to Mohegan Sun Casino. It was an amazing breakfast. We both had a farm house scramble. Basically it is a biscuit topped with griddled potatoes, veggies, meat, eggs and cheese. Basically the best combination possible. We have been talking about it for a while now. After making homemade biscuits the other day, we thought it would be a great idea to make our own farmhouse scrambles at home. My take uses sausage and a pepper medley. Totally Awesome!
My son loves pancakes. It is his number one requested item. So I was in search of a delicious, yet easy recipe to make for him. The recipe had to be easy as he always requests them at the crack of dawn. So I usually am not 100%. This recipe is simple and delicious!
I am on a huge breakfast sandwich kick right now. No idea, but I love the combination of sausage, egg and cheese. However, this new kick has not been to good to my waistline. In the bbq world everyone talks about fatty’s. The Gist of it is a smoked log of sausage. I did a quick take on it by stuffing the log of sausage with my favorite breakfast items. It is hash browns, cheese and hard boiled eggs wrapped in sausage and bacon.
Waffles are one of my favorite breakfast treats. However, basic Belgium waffles take a little bit of time to make. You need to separate the eggs, whip the egg whites and fold them in. Early in the morning, the last thing that I want to do is all of that. I want a simple recipe … Read moreSuper Easy Waffles
On the weekend I like to cook breakfast whenever I get a chance. This Sunday I woke up early and started to read the September issue of Bon Appetit. I know it is October, but I just got around to it. It happens. Anyways, I came across a baked egg dish in the 5 ingredient section. It looked great and I just happened to have the ingredients available to make it.
Last year I made Bacon Pancakes and they were some of the best things that I have ever eaten. Actually they are one of my popular posts. So I decided to update the recipe and do it with waffles. Yep, bacon baked right into the center of the waffles. I think I might have a new winner for the best thing that I have ever made.
The other day I was strolling through the local Super Market when I came across an amazing loaf of Challah bread. I knew I had to make something with it. So I decided to make my favorite French Toast for dinner. Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner. Plus, a little brown sugar and Cinnamon to round off my French Toast. The perfect complement for a savory sweet breakfast for dinner treat.
Top with a little powdered sugar and this breakfast treat is going prime time.
I love breakfast. Probably my favorite meal of the day. Mostly because it is the only meal where it is cool to eat bacon straight up. But secondly, because it is almost always served with potatoes. I love those crazy tubers. So I decided to whip up some potatoes. These potatoes are loaded with peppers and onions. They are almost a breakfast on their own.
Heck, top with an egg and you are good to go.
I have been experimenting with pizza crusts. So I have a ton of pizza dough lying around. You can only have so many pepperoni pizzas before you need to find something different. So I decided to try my hand at breakfast pizza. If you have been near a TV at all over the past couple of days you know that it has snowed here in DC. It has snowed a lot, roughly 27 inches. I have a front wheel drive car and there is no chance of me getting out of my house for another day at least. So I had to substitute a few ingredients in my breakfast pizza. Normally I would use salsa as the base, but since I had none and there was no way of me getting to the market. However, I did have a can of diced tomatoes. So I substituted that. It was still good, but salsa is the best.
The other day I was reading the December issue of Food and Wine and I came across this recipe and I had to try it. Roasted tomato sauce and eggs. So simple yet I had never even thought of trying it. Although it takes a bit to make it, the tomato sauce can be made ahead of time so that you can make a quick and easy dish.
Serve with some toasted slices of baguette and you have a great breakfast.
So I purchased a bunch of canned pumpkin and now I am unsure what to do with it all. So today I decided to break out the waffle iron and make some pumpkin pancakes. Pumpkin goes great with breakfast. Pumpkin pancakes are awesome, and honestly, who doesn’t sneak a slice of pumpkin pie in the morning. So here are some awesome pumpkin waffles.
These go great with warmed natural maple syrup.
