I make a lot of pizzas on this blog.  Mostly, because it is my favorite meal.  I love pizza.  The number one question sent to me is – “I don’t really want to make pizza dough where can I get some”.  There are many options.  It really depends on how much work you want to … Read morePizza Dough – Let’s make it easy!

Pepperoni Stromboli

Stromboli

When I was a kid we used to get Strombolis’ from a little pizza place near our house.  They were not rolled like typical a Stromboli but  were folded in a half-moon shape like a Calzone.  However, the biggest difference was that the stromboli had sauce inside of it and the Calzone had sauce on the side. … Read morePepperoni Stromboli

Honey Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

The other week Dana asked if I could make the food a tad bit healthier.  Hard to make healthy things when your go to ingredient is Bacon, but I said I would try.  Our favorite food is pizza, so I figured I would take that for a healthy little spin. The first thing is to … Read moreHoney Whole Wheat Pizza Dough

Recreating Pizza Hut Breadsticks

Pizza Hut Breadstick Recipe

The other day I recreated the Pizza Hut Pan Pizza.  To be honest, the only reason I recreated the pizza hut pizza was to figure out the dough so that I could make the breadsticks.  The breadsticks are my favorite part of the Pizza Hut experience.  Since the dough was perfect, the only thing missing was the breadstick topping.

Samosa Pizza

Samosa Pizza

Today I am competing in my third FoodieFights.com cooking competition. I am currently 0/2, but hopefully the 3rd time is the charm. The gist of the competition is that there are six food bloggers, two featured ingredients and whole lot of glory. The featured ingredients for this Foodie Fight are peas and ginger. As soon as I heard the ingredients, I instantly starting thinking about the amazing Samosas that my friend Vishal brings me. His Mom makes the best food, and luckily she makes enough for me. I love the flavor and wanted to create a twist to this traditional meal. So, I decided to use the ingredients for a samosa pizza.

UPDATE – Voting has closed and this recipe was the winner of the FoodieFights.com competition. Check out Foodiefights.com for the results and write-up.

Samosa Pizza

Traditionally, these little bags of goodness are fried, but I decided to make a crispy crust to get the same texture.

Fire and Smoke Pizza

Top with the ingredients

There is a little pizza restaurant in DC called Matchbox that makes pretty darn good pizzas.  Although they are known more for their sliders than their pizza, they make a pretty mean pie.  My favorite is the Fire and Smoke pizza.  It is a mixture of spicy and smokey ingredients that play together to make an awesome pizza.  I created a pizza to honor their splendid slice.  It is not meant to be the same, but then again it is not too far off either.

Fire and Smoke Pizza

Dana says it is the best pizza that I have ever made.  I have to agree with her.  It was extremely tasty.

Breakfast Pizza

Breakfast Pizza

I have been experimenting with pizza crusts.  So I have a ton of pizza dough lying around.  You can only have so many pepperoni pizzas before you need to find something different.  So I decided to try my hand at breakfast pizza.  If you have been near a TV at all over the past couple of days you know that it has snowed here in DC.  It has snowed a lot, roughly 27 inches.  I have a front wheel drive car and there is no chance of me getting out of my house for another day at least.  So I had to substitute a few ingredients in my breakfast pizza.  Normally I would use salsa as the base, but since I had none and there was no way of me getting to the market.  However, I did have a can of diced tomatoes.  So I substituted that.  It was still good, but salsa is the best.
