Bacon Waffles

mainpic

Last year I made Bacon Pancakes and they were some of the best things that I have ever eaten.  Actually they are one of my popular posts.  So I decided to update the recipe and do it with waffles.  Yep, bacon baked right into the center of the waffles.  I think I might have a [...]

Memorial Day 2010

Top with a little extra blue cheese

Happy Memorial Day!  I just want to give a quick shout out to all of the Veterans out there that have served this country. Thank you very much for all that you have done.  The United States would be nothing without you.  Thanks again. Dana’s friend Kristy came to visit and we wanted to try [...]

Breakfast Pizza

I have been experimenting with pizza crusts.  So I have a ton of pizza dough lying around.  You can only have so many pepperoni pizzas before you need to find something different.  So I decided to try my hand at breakfast pizza.  If you have been near a TV at all over the past couple [...]

BBQ Chicken Quesadillas

Last week I went to the local Safeway and they had an amazing deal on rotisserie chickens.  Only $5.  So I decided to purchase one and make a couple of recipes.  Using the roasted chicken you can quickly make a couple of meals.  There is plenty of meat on the bird and the bones can [...]

Ultimate Bacon

While bacon is the ultimate food, not all bacon is created equal.  Granted all bacon is good, but some bacon is just a tad bit better.  Today I turned the ordinary bacon in to extraordinary bacon.  How do you do this? With a bit of brown sugar, Pure Grade A Michigan Maple Syrup and some [...]

BBQ Chicken Potato Skins

I always seem to bbq an extra chicken breast every time that I grill.  I have no idea why there is an extra one, but there is always an extra.  So I decided to come up with a great way to use the leftovers.  On a side note, this use of bbq chicken leftovers is [...]

Bacon Quinoa with a Poached Egg

Well all of that bacon, butter, ice cream and deep frying has gone to my waist. Time to start eating healthier. Well, at least once a week. Also, not too healthy as I need to have my daily dose of bacon. But, here is the start. Quinoa sounds like (key-new-a) is a grain-like crop that [...]

Hamburger Baked Beans

This past weekend my parents came to visit me out in the Nation’s Capital.  I decided to barbecue and my Mom made the sides.  She made these amazing baked beans with bacon, onions and ground beef.  I had to get the recipe as they were delicious. The crispy bacon and tender ground beef go amazing [...]

Bacon Mushroom Hash – The Hangover Helper

This weekend I woke up with a little hangover and wanted to have a nice breakfast.  When I walked into the kitchen all I found was a potato, onion and four mushrooms.  What to do?  The first thing was to add bacon to it.  Without bacon fat, my hangover was not going anywhere.  Next I [...]

Chocolate Covered Bacon = Choco-Bacon

So I have been getting a ton of emails and comments from my friends that I have failed to make a bacon dessert.  So I decided to make chocolate covered bacon.  Salty and sweet and 100 percent awesome!!!  Before I started, I discussed the possibilities of chocolate bacon with my friend Jeff and his sister [...]

White Truffle Twice Baked Potatoes

The other day I needed a tasty side dish to serve with some juicy grillled steaks.  I looked around my kitchen and I found a couple baking potatoes.  I decided to make some twice baked potatoes.  To spice it up, I added some white truffle oil to the mix.  I know this is cheating, but [...]

Bacon Crusted Quiche

I love brunch and I love quiche. However, today I didn’t feel like making a pie crust so I made a bacon crust for the quiche. Basically you form it like you would a real pie crust. You need to blind bake it with the help of some parchment and beans. Then you fill with [...]

Cheesy Corn

When I lived in Wisconsin the Barbecue joints there had a great side dish called cheese corn. It was cheesy, corny and delicious. So this past weekend while at my parents house for the 4th of July, I wanted to recreate it. So I went to the store and they had fresh local sweet corn [...]
