Dana and I went to Hash House A Go Go a last year when we went to Mohegan Sun Casino. It was an amazing breakfast. We both had a farm house scramble. Basically it is a biscuit topped with griddled potatoes, veggies, meat, eggs and cheese. Basically the best combination possible. We have been talking about it for a while now. After making homemade biscuits the other day, we thought it would be a great idea to make our own farmhouse scrambles at home. My take uses sausage and a pepper medley. Totally Awesome!
Living in the South, I have come to love a good biscuit. A nice flaky biscuit that is on the verge of being too salty, but is just right. Mmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. My son Liam asked me to make biscuits, so I decided to have a go at it. The results were awesome! These were some of the best biscuits I have had. Definitely the best biscuit I have ever made.
My son loves pancakes. It is his number one requested item. So I was in search of a delicious, yet easy recipe to make for him. The recipe had to be easy as he always requests them at the crack of dawn. So I usually am not 100%. This recipe is simple and delicious!
Dana and I love Entenmann’s Cheese Strip Danish. So I decided to try to recreate it. Well I was partially there, but it was a fail. I failed to let the danish proof so the final product was a little dense. Further, I am pretty sure that the instant yeast that I purchased did not activate. … Read moreNot so Epic Fail – Cheese Strip Danish
In the bbq world everyone talks about fatty’s. The Gist of it is a smoked log of sausage. I did a quick take on it by stuffing the log of sausage with my favorite breakfast items. It is hash browns, cheese and hard boiled eggs wrapped in sausage and bacon.
I was watching TV the other day and saw and episode of Top Secret Recipe featuring cinnamon rolls. They looked delicious, so I had to make some for myself. I am a huge fan of Quiche. The other night I was clueless as to what to make for dinner. I had a bunch of eggs lying around and figured a Quiche would be perfect. Add a little bacon and Swiss and this was going to be a great meal. I used the basic recipe from Paula Deen and then fiddled with the recipe until it worked.
Whenever I have a ton of left overs and I want to clear out the fridge I try to find something new and exciting to try. I love eggs and they go with almost any flavor. You can make them sweet in desserts or savory in a quiche. So I wanted to use eggs and the asparagus, tomatoes, and onions that I had left over from this last weekends barbecue. The only thing that came to mind was a frittata.
It is amazing how great of a dish you can make just using simple ingredients.
Last week I got a couple dozen potatoes my from CSA. I love potatoes and farm fresh ones are absolutely the best. Since I had so many fresh potatoes lying around, I wanted to make some nice hashbrowns for breakfast. Hashbrowns are hard to make as fresh potatoes have so much starch in them that the potatoes seem to stick together. I always used to end up with a sticky mess of potatoes. However, I have figured out the secret and I have listed all of the steps below to make crispy and amazing hashbrowns.
Last year I made Bacon Pancakes and they were some of the best things that I have ever eaten. Actually they are one of my popular posts. So I decided to update the recipe and do it with waffles. Yep, bacon baked right into the center of the waffles. I think I might have a new winner for the best thing that I have ever made.
The other day I was strolling through the local Super Market when I came across an amazing loaf of Challah bread. I knew I had to make something with it. So I decided to make my favorite French Toast for dinner. Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner. Plus, a little brown sugar and Cinnamon to round off my French Toast. The perfect complement for a savory sweet breakfast for dinner treat.
Top with a little powdered sugar and this breakfast treat is going prime time.
So I purchased a bunch of canned pumpkin and now I am unsure what to do with it all. So today I decided to break out the waffle iron and make some pumpkin pancakes. Pumpkin goes great with breakfast. Pumpkin pancakes are awesome, and honestly, who doesn’t sneak a slice of pumpkin pie in the morning. So here are some awesome pumpkin waffles.
These go great with warmed natural maple syrup.
You guys always ask me to make the craziest foods. I am not one to let anyone down. Today I took bacon to a new level. I sandwiched it between a Krispy Kreme doughnut. After creating the monster I was a little scared to eat it. I built up some courage and took a bite. It was awesome!!! It created the perfect sweet and savory bite. Despite the calories, I would totally eat one of these every morning. However, for the sake of my stomach, I will limit these to a once a year occasion.
Yep that is a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich between a Krispy Kreme doughnut bun.
