Prosecco Mimosas

Prosecco Mimosas

Two years ago, the biggest party in all of New York happened.  Yep, I got married.  To celebrate my second Anniversary, Dana and I pulled out our crystal flutes and made some cocktails.  Is there any other way to celebrate.  Janine and Robb gave us a great bottle of Prosecco and there was no better … Read moreProsecco Mimosas

Hot Spiked Mocha

Hot Spiked Mocha Cocktail

Last month I got married and one of our gifts was a nespresso espresso maker. Quite honestly, one of the best money saving items in the house. I can make hot and fresh mochas, lattes and espresso shots for the fraction of the cost. Plus, it actually makes them right so they taste good. After … Read moreHot Spiked Mocha

Asparagus Frittata

Whenever I have a ton of left overs and I want to clear out the fridge I try to find something new and exciting to try. I love eggs and they go with almost any flavor. You can make them sweet in desserts or savory in a quiche. So I wanted to use eggs and the asparagus, tomatoes, and onions that I had left over from this last weekends barbecue. The only thing that came to mind was a frittata.

Layered with onions, asparagus and tomatoes this was a great dish.

Yeah, Sunday is Mother’s Day. You have two more days to get a card and book brunch. I will have a list of great places at the end of this post.

Visit an Embassy

All of the European Embassies are having an open house on Saturday from 10am-4pm. It is an easy way to visit a country without leaving the comfort of DC.

Bacon Mushroom Hash – The Hangover Helper

This weekend I woke up with a little hangover and wanted to have a nice breakfast.  When I walked into the kitchen all I found was a potato, onion and four mushrooms.  What to do?  The first thing was to add bacon to it.  Without bacon fat, my hangover was not going anywhere.  Next I found a couple of eggs and I was on a roll.  Luckily, my Mom sent me a new food processor that could shred that potato in a second.  Clearly the stars were aligning in my kitchen.

Eggs Benedict

One of my favorite brunch items is Eggs Benedict. I love hollandaise sauce but some times you just walk into a restaurant and you just don’t trust the chef with preparing it correctly. To fix this problem I say, make it at home. Traditional hollandaise can take a lot of work and time to prepare, but blender hollandaise takes only a minute or two to prepare. You can have the Eggs Benedict on the table in a matter of minutes.

Obama was spotted at Rays Hell Burger this week.  It is the new hot spot for burgers.  Check out my review of Rays Hell Burger.  The burgers are tasty, not too expensive, and the atmosphere is pretty cool.  Expect long lines.
