Corn and Black Bean Chili

Corn and Black Bean Chili

With the sudden drop in temperature and the start of football season, I have been craving chili.  I have made a ton of chili recipes, but wanted to create one that emphasized corn and black beans.  The combination of corn and black beans just intrigues me.  So I went through my spice cabinet and started grabbing spices. Elk Creek Water

Elk Creek Water

It is that time of the year.  Yep, College Football.  I was chatting with my friend Sean last week about football and he is the biggest Nebraska Cornhuskers fan around.  He said that the unofficial drink for Cornhuskers football is the Elk Creek Water. While I am not the biggest Nebraska fan, I was intrigued by the drink.  A mixture of gin and vodka combined for the perfect noon game cocktail.

The Elk Creek Water

  • 1 1/2 oz Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz Gin
  • 1 1/2 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 1/2 oz Orange Juice
  • 1 1/2 oz Sprite

To make this drink fill a rocks glass with ice and add each of the ingredients minus the sprite.  Stir and then top with the sprite.

Elk Creek Water

I was intrigued by the mixture of vodka and gin.  The flavor was great and is a nice alternative to a straight screwdriver.

I must say that those husker fans know how to party.  I will be making this drink come Saturday.
