Every Friday I pick and choose the best culinary events in the DC area. This weekend is going to be a fun one. Not really too much going on that is food related. I suggest that you stop by the metropolitan cooking and entertaining show. It is full of exhibitors and cooking demonstrations. I have been for the past 2 years. The samples available put a Sunday at Costco to shame.

Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show – Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 7-8)

The metropolitan cooking and entertaining show is a collection of exhibitors and live cooking demonstrations. This year features cooking demonstrations from Food Network stars Paula Deen, Giada De Laurentiis, Guy Fieri, Tyler Florence & the Neelys. While the celebrity chefs cost a bit more to see, the general admission tickets give you access to local chef cooking demonstrations and all of the exhibitors. General admission tickets are only $20. There is also beer and wine tasting for an extra $18.50. The beer and wine pairing is totally worth it. I will be there on Saturday. I will be hanging out with the guys from Pork Barrel BBQ. Stop by there booth, say Hi and try there award winning BBQ sauce.

Fall Harvest Dinner at Wildfire – Tuesday (Nov. 11)

Just in time for the holidays, Wildfire at Tysons Galleria, 3rd floor, McLean, VA, is hosting a Fall Harvest Dinner featuring a traditional Thanksgiving meal and paired with wines that complement turkey and all the trimmings. The event will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2009. The reception will start at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:00 p.m. Executive Chef Steven Lukis creates the special Thanksgiving menu and Wildfire Wine & Spirits Director Brad Wermager will be on hand to take questions about the evening’s pairings. The entire dinner – food, wine, tax and gratuity — is priced at $60 per person.
