Pepperoni Pinwheels are the ultimate appetizer. They contain all of the ingredients from everyone’s favorite meal, Pizza! They are easily shared and can be dipped in your favorite pizza/marinara sauce. Pepperoni Pinwheels are like mini pepperoni pizza sans pizza sauce. Therefore you can eat them in your favorite white shirt without too much worry. This is quite possibly one of the best appetizers that I have ever made.
My son is a huge pizza fan. His favorite place of all time is Stevi B’s pizza buffet. I know what you are thinking, but I am pretty sure that he loves it more for the arcade than anything else. However, while there Dana and I have grown to love the the thin crust taco pizza. My quest for a thin crust dough started as a way to make this taco pizza at home. In order to make our own, we first had to come up with a nice thin crust pizza dough. This dough is quick and delicious. No need to let it rise to long. Just my kind of last minute dough. This is not a traditional dough by any means, but it is fast and easy. Perfect for a 30 minute meal.
I love pizza. However, I have never been able to recreate pizzeria style pizzas. Then I stumbled upon High Gluten Flour. I know what you are thinking, Rex is bucking the trend of gluten free. I am a huge fan of pizza. Every once in a while I will go out and have a slice to see what toppings are popular. I stopped by a local pizzeria and had a spinach mushroom and goat cheese pizza. It was awesome and instantly knew I would have to recreate this for the blog.
This pizza is extremely popular at my house. The flavor combination is awesome!

Sorry to everyone for being gone the last couple of days. I appreciate all of your thinking of me. On a side note – Guess who doesn’t have to stand in line for a swine flu shot, Yep me!!! I got the antibodies the hard way. 48 hours with a 102+ temperature. However, I am back. I have come with pizza. Not any pizza, a roasted butternut squash pizza. Savory and Sweet it was the perfect comeback recipe.
Roasted Butternut Squash, Onions, Fresh Mozzarella and Freshly grated Parmesan Cheese.
When I was in college there was this pizzaria that delivered the beautiful cheese filled breadsticks. They were awesome. Basically a mix between a mozzarella stick and a breadstick. This recipe, however simple, took a couple of tries as I needed to get the right cheese. After having the right cheese, it took a while to determine the proper way to wrap the cheese so that it didn’t escape. Below are the perfect cheese filled breadsticks.
As you can see the cheese and bread come together in one amazing little package.
Ever since my post about the bread bowl pasta hit the web, I have been receiving emails left and right regarding a basic pizza dough crust. I made the bread bowl pasta out of sour dough pizza crust as that is what I had in the refrigerator. Dumb me, not realizing that people would go out of their way to recreate the pasta bowl as I had originally made it. Sourdough crust takes a long time. I have tried many pizza dough recipes in my time. The best that I have found is the one from the Joy of Cooking, page 752.
Like I said above, I have tried a ton of pizza dough recipes and this one always seems to taste the best. Pizza dough is simple and should not contain a ton of ingredients. I also believe that pizza dough should not be sweet but without sugars you loose the carmelization. This recipe can include a optional tablespoon of sugar but I always leave it out.
