The Kool-Shot

Sorry that this post didn’t go up earlier.  I just got a phone call from my Father at 3:30 PM eastern asking where my drink of the day was.  I totally had way too many of them yesterday and accidentally scheduled it for 6PM instead of 6AM.  Oops.  My Bad.  Well at least there is proof that the drink is awesome.  Here it is……

Every Wednesday I take a break from the real world and make a cocktail.  Sometimes they are extravagant and sometimes they are simple.  It depends on my mood when Wednesday comes around.  Well this week I was happy and in the mood for a drink or ten.  So I took the day off and decided to make shots.  Yep, good old fashioned get you tipsy shots.  I made a couple, but one kept calling my name.  It was the Kool-Shot.

Quick, dirty, cheap and extremely tasty.

The Kool-Shot – (I made these in a shaker, got a little drunk so I don’t have the breakdown for a single shot)

  • 2 parts fruit punch – choose your favorite.  If you can decipher my code from the name you know which brand I used.
  • 1 part vodka
  • 1 part sweet and sour

Combine the ingredients in a shaker with plenty of ice.  Shake till cold and strain into multiple shot glasses.

This shot is simple, cheap to make and extremely tasty.  I had a couple trying to figure out the exact proportions to use.

They may be red but they totally sneak up on you

By the way, drink them in moderation as they will sneak up on you.

I hope you have enjoyed your day as much as me, cheers…. Rex.

  1. Hey Koolaid!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey Koolaid!!!!!!!!!!!

[No big red pitcher of koolaid bursts through a wall, so Chris looks around backstage and finds him passed out.]

Ohhh Koolaid, you've fallen off the wagon again? Sigh….

Seriously though, did you use a light box for this shot or just through a back drop up on a table. I'm trying to figure out your lighting based on the reflection in the silver tumbler. Sorry, I'm trying to learn 🙂

    1. Nice Chris. Koolaid totally fell off the wagon. Haha.

As for the pics, I have a light tent that I picked up for the small stuff. They are only about $40 on Amazon. Here is the one that I have. Portable Photo 16 They come with the tent, 4 backgrounds, lights and a tripod. Otherwise I use my counter, some colored poster-board, a daylight lamp that I made from a clamp light from Lowes and a $4.99 daylight bulb.
