It has been horribly hot here in DC. Averaging 95 every single day. When it is that hot outside you do not want to cook or even venture outside. The only problem was that I wanted dessert. However, there was no way that I was going to turn the oven on to bake. So I decided to make smoothies. They are healthy, cold and refreshing. The best part is that they are super fast to make. Just add your favorite juice, your favorite fruit and blend.
Strawberry Banana Smoothies
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
- 6-8 frozen strawberries
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- 1 cup ice
I find that using frozen strawberries is the way to go. They are a lot cheaper and they add another level of textures to the final drink. Plus, since you are pureeing the smoothie, you do not need to present a fresh beautiful strawberry.
In the pitcher of your blender add the orange juice and yogurt. Then add the frozen strawberries and sliced banana.
Finally top with ice.
Blend until the ice is chopped and the smoothie is nice and smooth.
Pour into a glass and enjoy!!
